Keeping up with Kyla👑

 Today in class we read  a short story that wasn't really short. The was called Rockpile by James Baldwin. We had a discussion  about the story in class. The story was about a hangout for older kids called the rockpile. The rockpile was considered a bad place for younger kids because it was dangerous.  One day Johns brother Roy decided to go to the rockpile even though their mother told them not to. While at the rockpile their was a gang fight and Roy was injured. The father tried to blame John but the mother defended him. 

 Today in class we read a fictional story. In this story their was a “frame” which was like and introduction that led to a more elaborate story. Todays story was called Ambush, in the frame of this story the narrators daughter ask him has he ever killed anyone. He lied to the daughter by say no. In the next part of the story we see the event a that led up to his kill. In class we also discussed whether there could be a good or bad kill. To me they can be a good kill, in my opinion this is when you kill some one with good reason. We also talked about the theme of the story which i felt was that your past action can affect your love in the present. Todays assignment was interesting and very interactive. 

 Today in class we finished up our benchmark assessment. We only had to complete our extended response question. We had to write 2-3 paragraphs. I’m confident that I did ok on my test. This was the most challenging part of the test. Only because I don’t know how to make an essay that short. 

 Today in class we started our benchmark assessment. There were two different passages and 9-10 multiple choice questions for each. There was also 3 short answer questions. On the short answer questions I used the race strategy to answer the questions. This section was pretty easy. 

 Today in class we wrote a body paragraph. to write a body paragraph you need a claim. The claim you use will come from your thesis. After you state your claim you you will need evidence. In this case the evidence will come from the sources provided. Next, you must explain your evidence, and connect it to your claim. Then , state one more piece of evidence and explain it. Lastly, you must conclude the body paragraph. I have a problem with explaining my evidence, and not repeating the same things. 

 Today in class we went over a packet. The packet was essentially showing how our group projects are suppose to come together. In the packet their was six sources all of which refer to the prompt. We also see how the prompt was supposed to come together to introduce the topic. In this process we also went over the process of writing a synthesis essay. 

 Today I sat in Mr.Spence's class the whole day. I did partially complete my annotated bibliography in this time. But most of the day I was busy catching up on other pass due assignments. I'm happy that today is the last day of this school week. I look forward to spending the whole day tomorrow asleep. 

 Today I didn't attend school for personal reasons. I did complete Tuesday's assignment though I'll have to turn it in Monday since you wont be here for the rest of the week.  

 Today in class we had a quiz on the chapter that was assigned over the weekend. This test was much more simple than the one we had previously done. Next, we read the next chapter. We did popcorn reading,i enjoyed reading out loud. I like to hear others peoples fluency, and overall accuracy of my classmates reading.
