Today in class we learned about writing rhetoric analysis. In a rhetorical analysis paper you identify different rhetorical devices and identify the effectiveness of them. The different devices to choose from are ethos,logos, and pathos. In an rhetorical analysis essays you answer the question why, how, what. We also learned how to form a thesis in a rhetorical analysis. You do this by stating the authors name, adding an adjective, rhetorical strategies,strong verb, and function.
Today in class we learned about rhetorical devices. The first one we discussed was hyperbole, which is an exaggeration. The second was understatement. An understatement is the force of a descriptive statement that is less than what one would normally expect. Third we went over litotes, which are an emphasis on a point by using a word opposite to the condition. Fourth we learned antithesis, this makes use of a contrast in language to bring out a contrast in ideals. Lastly we were introduced to hypophora which is asking a question then proceeding to answer it.
