Today in class we had a deep discussion about black history month. I do feel that black history month is an important staple of the black community. The bulk of information that I do know about our history and our contributions have been taught in this month. I definitely would be a bit clueless if it wasn't for this month.
Today in class we learned about rhetorical devices. The first one we discussed was hyperbole, which is an exaggeration. The second was understatement. An understatement is the force of a descriptive statement that is less than what one would normally expect. Third we went over litotes, which are an emphasis on a point by using a word opposite to the condition. Fourth we learned antithesis, this makes use of a contrast in language to bring out a contrast in ideals. Lastly we were introduced to hypophora which is asking a question then proceeding to answer it.
