Reflection: 8-31-21

We worked on analyzing a quote.

reflection : 8-30-21

Today in class we went in-depth on the topic of claims. There are three types of claims. The first is claim of fact is to argue that something is or isn’t  true. Next is claim of value, this is how something does or doesn’t meet a certain criteria. Last is claim of policy, this is when you make a claim with intent to make a change. Saying that pizza is the best food is an example of claim of value. Arguing that marijuana should be legalized is an example of  claim of policy.

Reflection; 8--23-21

Today in class we learned about rhetorical situations.  A rhetorical situation is any circumstance in which one or more people employ rhetoric.     There are 8 components  of rhetorical situations. The components are exigence, context, speaker, purpose, audience, text, genre, and message. Exigence is what motivated the writer to write. Context is when and what was happening during the time the text was written. Speaker is the person arguing. Purpose is what the author want to accomplish. Audience is the listeners, or who the author wanted to reach. Text is the spoken word. Genre is how the argument is delivered. Message is the theme. I enjoyed how the lesson was connected to real world events .

Reflection: 8-20-21

Today in class I presented my groups poem. As the summarizer I spoke first. Although my part was short I felt it met the requirements. My favorite part of the presentation was the illustration. I just love a visual representation of things. The second group did good as well. Overall I enjoyed the class today.

Reflection: 8-19-21

Today in Class my classmates presented  their group work. Group one went first. Their presentation was decent, but their poem had great meaning behind it. Group 3 went next. Group threes presentation was a bit unorganized but overall they did good. Their poem was about dreams and how they can change. Im confident my group will do well tomorrow.

Reflection: 8-18-21

We did our first group assignment today in class. I was assigned to group 2, and was every confident that we could do the assignment. We were assigned to the poem “ Refugees in America”. Once receiving the poem i was worried about the  length of it. It is a very short poem with about 2 stanzas , and 8 lines. But the length wasn an  advantage in the end.  My role in the group was as summarizer. I had to summarize the text , list the key parts, and make a connection.  This was one of the more easy roles that others.

Reflection: 8-17-21

My dream is to be successful. I want to live a comfortable life, and never want to want for anything. I’ll achieve this by always doing my best. I’ll also keep track of my progress to motivate me. To keep my dream from being deferred i’ll be patient, and stay motivated. Success doesn’t come easy to most, so I must remain determined.

Reflection; 8-16-21

In today’s class we started off with the bell ringer. Today’s bell ringer always about the most important moment in history to African Americans. I wrote about Barack Obama’s presidency. Next we took a few notes on how to read poetry, and annotations.Lastly we used the annotating steps to under stand the given poem. Today’s poem was about how much blacks have been through.

Reflection: 8-13-21

Today’s class was lack luster. We didn’t do anything interactive. We started class off with an assessment on terms we haven’t looked at or thought about since writing them in our notebooks. Since I did do a bit of cram studying I think I did pretty well on the test. After completing this test we did a pre-test. This test wasn’t very hard either, it was boring though. I also didn’t get to complete my extended response question.

Reflection: 8-12-21

Today in AP American Literature  we learned about formal and informal texts. Mr.Rease started by  giving us a passage without a purpose. The class as a whole  figured  that the text could be about a robbery. Throughout the text we saw many key details on things a robber might take into consideration when robbing the house. Such as the jewelry the boys mom had. Others saw it as someone looking at key things to purchase the house. Such as the leaking roof in the boys room. I enjoyed this lesson over many others that we’ve done.

Reflection; 8-11-21

Today was a gloomy day. On gloomy days I tend to drag throughout the day. Multiple times I was tempted to fall asleep. Once getting to your 4th period and seeing the poetry for us to analyze I immediately got discouraged as it isn’t my strong suit. Eventually I gave in to the temptations. I may have missed important information but i’m confident I got the bulk of the lesson. I’m hoping for a more upbeat lesson tomorrow.

Reflection: 8-10-21

Today I made to school at about 10:15. I was late because I went to the orthodontist. At the orthodontist I got power chains, as a result I’ve been having pains throughout the day. In my third period class we did group assignments which are my favorite. The assignment was a little challenging but since Ms.Jackson is a great teacher I eventually understood. Fourth period for me is always a bit aggravating. There’s always something unnecessary being talked about. I pretty much understood the test though. I’m confident that I made an 100%.

Introduction

I’m Kyla Cunningham and I’m an 11th grader here at Cedar Grove. I’m currently employed at Popeyes. When not at school or work I’m most likely binge watching any show on Netflix or Disney+. Another of my hobbies is writing. I write anything, from goals to budgets. Writing helps me think clearly, and i also do it just to improve my penmanship. This year I expect the same things from myself as all previous years, good grades and a full understanding of all of the criteria.
